Welcome to
Wilderness Christian Camp
People gathering together to share God's love for everyone, teaching good stewardship of the Earth and to grow in knowledge about God's word.

About our Camp

We hold a one week summer camp in June every year at the facilities located at Stronghold Conference Center in Oregon, Illinois. We teach our campers firebuilding, cooking over an open fire, clean up, and that they can survive for a week without the internet at their fingers. Sleeping accommodations are bunk beds in wood cabins without electricity. Campers enjoy crafts, games, nature walks, camp wide worship and swimming in the outdoor pool.

If you are still in school (3rd grade through 12th), you can get involved by being a camper! If you are an adult and would like to get involved, you can become a counselor or run any of the camper activities that need assistance. Either way we can guarantee you will have a great time when you spend one week with us, nature, and God.

Getting Involved

So you or your child wants to get involved with camp, how do you do that?

If you are interested in joining our staff, please click the button below to download our application form. We have many different staff positions available including camp counselor, activity leaders such as games and nature, and life guard to name a few. We are always in need of a song leader as well if you are musically talented! There are plenty of ways to become involved.

If you are unable to join us at camp, there are other ways to be involved with us. We are always in need of food and supplies. We want to make sure that we keep our registration fees low so that all campers are able to come, no matter their financial situation. If you are wishing to donate, please contact our current director.

We try to ensure that we keep our cost low so that any camper is able to join us here at Wilderness Christian Camp, regardless of financial situation. Our main goal is to ensure that your camper has the best possible camping experience while furthering their relationship with God. Our staff are volunteers, so your money goes towards use of the facilities, camp supplies, and food for the week. If you are in need of financial assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Junior Unit || $200/camper || 3rd-5th Grade
The junior unit is for campers that have completed 3rd through 5th grade. Here they will learn the basics of camping as well as learn life skills such as cooking, cleaning, and teamwork. They will swim, hike, and play games daily. They will participate in age appropriate bible studies and engage in the daily worship services. We also have scheduled activities each evening of the week including a night swim and all camp games.

Junior High || $250/camper || 6th - 8th Grade
In junior high, the campers will be participating in much of the same activities as the junior unit. They will still participate in daily swims, games, and hiking. They will expand on their skills in cooking, cleaning, and teamwork. On top of these activities, they will be able to canoe on the Rock River that is located right next to the camp. They will also get the chance to participate in high ropes as well. They will be able to be 30ft above the ground. Here they will learn to push their limit, trust in themselves and others and above all else, trust in GOD.

Counselors in Training (CIT) & Leaders in Training (LIT) || $250/camper || 9th - 12th Grade
For the high school aged campers, they will begin learning skills that will help them become leaders to those around them. They will start easy during the beginning of the week to ensure that they have the skills that are needed to start a foundation of leadership and then will be introduced into supervised leadership positions throughout the week. They will be assisting campers in cooking, guiding activities, and leading worship. They will also be able to participate in canoeing on the river as well as join the junior high on the high ropes course.

If you prefer not to register online, please download one from the following link and email it to info@wildernesschristiancamp.org. Also provided are the health and liability forms that will need to be filled out and brought with for check in at the start of camp. Click below to download a PDF list of what your camper will need to bring. Once your camper signs up, there will also be a list sent via mail and email.

Activities

Depending on the age group, your camper may get to experience other activities such as canoeing on the Rock River and participating in the High Ropes Course (complete with zipline!). There are many different activities throughout the week to include hiking, nature, crafts, worship and bible study, all camp games, night swims, castle tours, and much much more!

bible study

Bible Study

Enjoy daily bible studies with a different theme each year. This theme will be carried throughout the week in multiple different activities.

canoeing

Canoeing

Those campers that are older get the chance to canoe on the Rock River.

cooking

Cooking

We cook and enjoy a variety of meals throughout the week. These meals are cooked over an open fire under supervision. We do not use a mess hall for our meals.

crafts

Crafts

To bring together the week's bible study theme, the campers get to enjoy a variety of crafts that help them to better understand and learn about that day's lesson.

games

Playing Games

The games locations range from the woods, open fields, the pool, or stationary under the pavillion. We have plenty of games that can be played rain or shine and often tie into the theme of the week.

high ropes course

High Ropes Course

Suspending by cables 30ft in the air while facing your fears, gaining confidence, and building teamwork (as well as the zipline) can be a very rewarding challenge.

hiking

Hiking

We hike EVERYWHERE. Our feet are our main mode of transportation between the units and activities. We get to see nature up close and bask in the glory of God's creation.

swimming

Swimming

Swimming is our way of cooling off daily. The campers get an hour in the pool each day to cool off or play some games. We also participate in a night swim one day during the week.

team building

Team Building

Team building is done for every unit but it is mainly focused on the high school groups. These are the ones that are learning leadership through application during the week with the campers as well as learning the importance of teamwork.
